Work for New Zealand Corporates and Individuals:
We do not quote a specific scale, as we do for Hong Kong work (set out below) but our charge out rate is between NZ$300.00 to NZ$400.00 per hour. Some large corporates have chosen to go direct to large accounting firms in Hong Kong( referred there by their local NZ firm) but the bills have been enormous by NZ standards, and in most cases we are cheaper by 60%.
Some of the work we advise on is as follows:
- Trading opportunities for NZ Companies in Hong Kong and China. We have an affiliated firm in Shanghai
- Formation of joint ventures in Hong Kong and China
- Setting up of rep offices in Hong Kong and China
- Offshore asset protection by use of offshore Companies and Trusts in the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and other jurisdictions.
- Hong Kong as a regional office for trading and distribution- the tax advantages, and its status as the gateway to China.
- The general advantages of moving ownership and control of assets and investment offshore out of New Zealand.
- Intellectual property issues
- All other work referred to in the summary of Hong Kong work mentioned below.
Hong Kong Law from New Zealand:
This is a brief summary of commercial legal work we undertake from New Zealand, and a summary of fees. There is some work we may undertake with our associated legal firm in Hong Kong where rates may be higher. However, unless otherwise indicated, fees are quoted on the basis that all work and documentation is undertaken by us in New Zealand, from where we operate with the benefit of low overheads and up to date technology.
Please note that we are a New Zealand based and licensed firm, and practice selected New Zealand commercial law as well for selected clients.
Fees quoted are exclusive of disbursements, and in Hong Kong Dollars. Our charge out rates do not exceed
HK$1500.00 (US$190.00) per hour. We may ask for a costs and retainer agreement to be signed summarizing work to be done and the fee to be charged.
